Learning how to print hot pink
circuit casing.
Creo and the Makerbot
Prototypes of the circuit casing for the wristband were developed using Creo CAD software. As the configuration of the boards, LED, LCD display, and button changed, the casing shape was adjusted to ensure the best fit. Holes for the micro USB charger and the cloth for the wristband were considered when creating the bottom piece of the casing. Once the model was finalized, the file was opened using the Makerbot software, Makerware. The model was previewed to check for any errors and then the printing began on the Makerbot Replicator. The top piece of the casing took about thirty minutes to print, while the bottom piece took about twenty minutes. Both Creo and the Makerbot were very user friendly, allowing for easy adjustments to the casing design.
