About Our Project:
The EMG hand project started with the need for cheaper and more functional prosthetic limbs. Currently prosthetic limbs are expensive and have limited functionality. We aim to offer a prosthetic that is affordable while also enhancing the user’s life. For our project, we are creating an EMG activated prosthetic limb that will read the electrical signals produced by your muscles and activate the hand into one of several gesture motions. This prosthetic limb will be for transradial, below the elbow, amputees so that we can attach the leads to the forearm area. The prosthetic limb will use a machine learning algorithm that has been trained to activate the grips based on the user’s muscle activation. Once the machine learning algorithm has determined what grip the user wants 5 motors will use pulse-width modulation, PWM, to activate the motors and move the fingers into their desired location for each gesture.
Final design of the hand in the spidey position.
